"Ruaiauairauiuiari (that's pronounced "ROAR! EEE!" aka Robostud)"

why does everyone (and im talking about irish people here too) have such a problem spelling and pronouncing my name? its not that hard!!! a child could do it….i did.
my name is spelt Ruairi and pronounced more like "Rur' ee"……imagine the name Rory with a U instead of an O.

sorry i'll stop ranting. I think i've said pretty much all i can say about the gig itself and the week of hanging out with matt and james….so i'll just say, we made it happen. (read into that however you want)

also, i'll pass on your compliments to johnny.

i'm finally home in the "good" ol' USA and have had a fine night's rest /

not sure how to sum up this little adventure, but here's the short version:

adam (alien hand) and Ruaiauairauiuiari (that's pronounced "ROAR! EEE!" aka Robostud) were amazingly lovely lads (as you are apt to say). i couldn't have asked for better hosts: kind, generous, witty people.

the rest of the irish lot were charming as well: johnny (automatic tasty) was kindhearted and generous to the point of being some kind of other-worldly freak. i think he may be an angel of some kind. a genuine prince among men.

it was also nice meeting bryan, ryan, dylan, vicky, tracy, jenny and the rest of the irish crew…….

///as for non-irish folk:

oliver (tomoroh hidari) was, again, lovely. although we spoke briefly, he struck me as a terrific person.

lastly, we have matt HARDOFF. what else to say other than: "you BASTARD". good old matt was everything i dreamed/feared he would be. he did not disappoint. being the glutton for abuse that i am, i very much look forward to seeing him again, that funny m*therf*cker.

all in all, i look forward to seeing EVERYONE again. you are ALL cordially invited to stay at my home back in phoenix (not chicago any more…) whenever you reach the states.

oh, and the gig…….BEST. GIG. EVER. (for me at least). i can't thank you enough, and i truly feel bad for the brits that couldn't make it.

Hello all, don't think I've posted here in months, nothing personal, just had nothing to contribute really.

It was indeed a cracking night, a cracking week in fact, from the moment Matt arrived on Thursday night to when James said goodbye this morning.

James, Matt, Oliver - Really enjoyed meeting you all and thanks a zillion for playing your wonderful musics for beers and peanuts and being cool with sleeping on couches and floors and generally being lovely people. Looking forward to seeing you all again and sleeping on your floors and couches and drinking all your beer.

Mattie, Andrew, Tracy - It was great to meet all you lovely folks too, just a shame we didn't get to hang out more, we were only warming up really! We should definitely meet again in the near future, at the Bangface weekender if not before then. Thanks very much Mattie for the kind words, I will certainly give it some thought.

I really wish I'd managed to get vids of Oliver and Jonny playing but I suppose you can't have everything.

More photos coming soon.

i dont think we could have put the acts in a more perfect order and i was also amazed that everything went almost exactly to schedule.

also, my opinion on there being another digivom gig is that it needs to be on the other side of the world somewhere…whether thats the states or australia or in the rain forest.

What can I say? It was awesome fun, a great vibe, and it was great to put some faces (and characters) to names… The night as I remember went something like this:

Alien Hand - kicking off with a set of old skool hardcore rave classics, total nostalgia for those of us a little older, and starting on a high note. Then kicking into his own breakcore set, with razor sharp beats and tons of melody, just the way I like it. Alien Hand if you're reading this, please think about a solo album, it'll rock (:

Hardoff - keeping the pace fast and furious, moving into more mashcore/gabba territory, and getting the crowd really dancing now. There's definitely something of a trademark Hardoff sound, and it really came through in this set.

Solypsis - hahaha, this is awesome, Solypsis splits the crowd down the middle… Half are still dancing as the beats turn into rhythmic noise turn into ear shredding transcendent terror, the other half look ready to kill him (albeit in a friendly way). I'm biased, because I love rhythmic noise, but to me this was a near perfect set. Strangely, the purity of the sound system (thanks to the venue for that), and the stylings of Solypsis combine to make something… Confrontational but pleasurable, joyous even…

Tomoroh Hidari - I'm afraid to say that following Solypsis was always going to be tough, and in other situations I think we'd say that Tomoroh Hidari was rocking something of an extreme breakcore-ish melodic electronica sound, but after the noise, it all comes as a nice almost ambient breather…

Automatic Tasty - Well, good to end on some dancing, and so here we go… Old school analogue boxes, and acid, lots of acid… 400 acid riffs, no breakdowns, no let-up, just bang bang bang for an hour. Fantastic (:

Overall, well worth it, and a big thanks from me to all involved, and hope to catch you all again soon.
