I couldn't find the original thread, so for those not in the know… this is a comedy show on the ABC in Australia. It's like Jackass meets Tex Avery meets The Goodies. Some of the extreme sports featured in the show include jumping off cliffs without ropes, jumping over bottomless pits, fighting evil demi-Gods, beating up children, and destroying terrorism by blowing up the earth. And I've volunteered to do some music for their second, microscopically budgeted series.

I've just had my "assignment" for this now. I can't say too much, but what I will say is that I am scoring one of the final scenes of the series, and that it's going to be EPIC… I'm talking Hollywood blockbuster EPIC.

Bryan Moses. Fucking love this guy. If I ever go to Oz, he's having a drink on me.

You really should. For something so clearly cheap and (sellotape and blu-)tacky, it's pretty special. There are DVDs in Australia, failing that try YouTube. Here's a couple to start with:

Also, if anyone wants to see a trailer for the second series, including clips of the scenes I've been working on (but none of the music) say so here and I'll PM you. I've been asked not to distribute it publically, but to a few of my showbiz chums with a familiarity with the term "confidentiality", it's fair play. I might also use this space to casually inform you that the 8x30 minute series includes five times the visual effects as Heroes and more than the movie Transformers, which is quite a boast for a series with a total budget of around $250,000 AUD. And chances are it'll be funnier than both combined.

This is now in the can, and awaiting transmission. Dates etc will be made available as soon as I know them (which should be soon after Bryan knows them).

I should be getting a copy of the show (and possibly the series) in August, when he's due to come to England. I'll ask him about distribution of the clip and music then. Unless it appears on YouTube beforehand…

Ah yes, that might have been useful.

Guitars, drum kit, about three piano notes, the odd SFX - The Fist Band on live instruments.
Everything else (all the strings, brass, pianos, SFX, percussion) - me in Reason and Cubase.

There was an official screening of some clips from the show a couple of days ago, and apparently between clips some tracks from Very Unprofessional and Even Unprofessionaler were played. And I'd only requested that I be represented at the screening by drawing my face onto a lime.

OK, the series begins on Thursday 14th August at 9:30pm on ABC2, and the day after at 11:30pm on ABC1. Therefore, my music will be on the episode airing on the 2nd/3rd October. I'm not sure why I'm saying this, as I don't think we have any Australian residents here at the moment, but what can I say? I'm smug.

Hm.. it might be available as a video podcast, otherwise there's no way to watch it online as, like BBC iPlayer is exclusive to the UK, ABC's online service is only available within Australia.

But hopefully I'll be getting the DVDs soon, so if anyone's up for a 4-hour binge session I'm sure there must be some way of a few of us huddling around a DVD player.
