I'm pig sick of having to rely on other people, so I'm going to be releasing it on the cheap. Handmade CDrs, photocopied inserts, plastic sleeves. It's the only way to get the bloody thing done.

that's a very professional plan.
It would have been if I'd have done it a year ago.
(BTW, might have a high-profile pre-order for this soon…)
And it's now confirmed. So now I've actually got a damn good reason to get the thing pressed up. I'll keep you guessing as to whom I am trading discs with for the time being, but I expect it's a group of people you may have heard of in one form or another.
Digital Vomit? i've heard of them!
I'd congratulate you on a fine piece of wit there Doug, but actually no-one here's pre-ordered it. Probably a wise move all things considered.
(and you're getting a freebie anyway)
i nearly did… but money was / is still tight.
going to the good local record shop at the weekend (welln we're planning to), so will speak with them about caryying DV and related product - i'll discuss this 'in princable' as it's a 'future relese'.
You're getting a freebie too Keith. Remember that remix you did?
EDIT: the following people from here get a free copy: Joe Twocsinak, James Solypsis, Guy 7u?, Doug BIA, Matt Hardoff and Keith Hic.
How do I order it then?
Mitch - erm……. I'll tell you later. It'll probably either be cash, PayPal or trades though.
Now I'm back on the road again (ie. allowed/able to drive my car), I should be able to construct this release over the next week or two. The covers will likely be hand-written, and consist largely of cut-up pop magazines. RRP will probably be under £5 now, more likely £3-4.
Oh, and the pre-order (actually, a trade) was from PFFR, the people behind MTV's Wonder Showzen, [adult swim]'s Xavier: Renegade Angel and a few really rather good electro-pop/noise albums on Birdman Records and the like. They're also getting a copy of CBML4.
Hi Mixi;
Remind me when it is out!!! (I will forgot otherwise)
When it's done, people will know. Trust me.
Seven are totally finished now. Another 20-odd need tracklistings written out for them, and then they're done too. The CDRW's burning up, but still going strong.
This is actually going to see the light of day. FINALLY.
PS. Whomever orders copy 23 will get a free gift - a one-off Mixomatosis stationary set.
very limited release then!.
looking forward to hearing at last.
what are you going to do after this?
Well, this is part one of a ten part series of Mixomatosis releases. Details of this will be available upon the release of the tenth part. The next two parts however are likely to be an album of "licenced" remixes (hopefully including Rank Sinatra, Singing Sadie, Wisbey, PFFR, Mr_Hopkinson's Compter, etc) and a collection of other people's reimaginings and "covers" of little sketches and melodies I've written. Got a few artists in mind for this, although none are confirmed in the slightest. (Note - '…Is Dead' is not part of this series, nor will the upcoming release for 'Long Division With Remainders'.)
Four copies have currently been sent out, to Staff, PFFR, Twocsinak and Solypsis. Discs for the brothers Flood, Cassetteboy, Eraserhead, 7u?, Hardoff, Keith and Shitmat should be going out within the next week (when I get a chance to write out the tracklistings).
Photos, ordering details, etc coming soon.
Emails requesting postal-address confirmation have been sent out this evening. Hopefully I can get all the freebies out by the start of next week providing I get speedy replies.
Oh, and one freebie's going to this woman, whom I said some nasty things to a couple of years back and promised to her by means of apology: www.evemassacre.org (if you wondering, no, she didn't deserve it at all - I was very pissed off at the time)
EDIT: First review in: "Loving the new Mixo album" - Staff, Extreme Noise Terror/Massive Hospitalisation/The Blitters/Beatglider/The Doomed Bird Of Providence.
Copies on their way to Eraserhead, 7u?, Hardoff, Shanks Pony and Cassetteboy today………. around thirty copies have been finished.
"Very good" - DJ Sarah Wilson.
This will be available to buy at the Doomed Bird Of Providence gig tonight by the way…
got mine the other day.
"very unprofessional" — solypsis
;)
Excellent; hope you enjoy it.
got mine too. ta.
review to follow.
Listened to it on the way home from Colchester. Very good, loving it in fact.
arrived safe n sound in kitakyu, dig the ringtone jacket, very DV.
good CD. nice and concise.
but i must say that it's a bit sacreligious (how do u spell that?) to take the 808 drums out of 'sexual healing'. that was the first big hit ever to use the legendary drum box.
love the shanks pony. is that just keith? or keith and mates?
Yes… you see, I hate Sexual Healing. It's a dreadful song. And bad things needed to be done with it, legendary or not.
Oh, and AFAIK the Shanks Pony track was just Keith, but I helped out with a little bit of rearrangement.
A little tip for anyone with a ford 6000 RDS cd player in their car, the cd may go in, but dosen't come out so easily. :S
A little tip for anyone with a ford 6000 RDS cd player in their car, the cd may go in, but dosen't come out so easily. :S
A tip of anyone using slot loading cd players -esp multi chnagers (the this applys to single cd units).
Never leave a CD with a label in the player on a hot day.
The glue tends to melt and, as Hooray says, the cds don;t come out so easy - i remember clara haveing have one of my cd get stuck in her car and having to take the cdplayer apart to remove the cd.
Thanks Matt.
And thanks to Lee for the arrangement help.
pretty offtopic: is this cdr a printable cdr or does it have a printed label pasted on it? i ask this because i want to bring out a cdr somewhere this year too and i hope it won't have any problems in certain cd players.
I got my lovely copy the other day. Listened to it all the way through for the first time today. I'm a big fan of the hand-written… ness. And the fact that my copy is wrapped in a TV listing for Gladiators.
Favourite tracks are Fade to Kelly and IZ-USLOW. Also, DJ Sarah Wilson's track is every bit as original as we've all come to expect. Cheers to Lee for sending a free copy and for letting my shitty preset glitch nonsense on the release in the first place.
this is very good, this album, alhtough i think i've heard pretty much everything bar the remixes before!
what's that last track?
Shizzermitenmat - I'd Prefer To Be Listening To The Spin Doctors.
;)
Actually, it's Mixomatosis - Rock Me Nellydeus (Sillier Version). It was supposed to be for a LoveLove compilation, before all that happened.
I'm with Mixo, Sexual Healing deserves to die a painful death - and, one day, when I actually find a CD player that will play my copy of Very Unprofessional, I look forward to hearing it…
what's that last track?
Shizzermitenmat - I'd Prefer To Be Listening To The Spin Doctors.
Lee is that right? my track listing lists "Shizzermi
tenmat - I'd Prefer To Be Listening To The Spin Doctors." as track 16, but the CD has 17 tracks.
I assumed it was a extra track (badly hidden), but maybe you've missed off a trak from the listing?
Hang on, I'm assuming (knowing your typing) that you would have had to have selected the text "Shizzermitenmat - I'd Prefer To Be Listening To The Spin Doctors." from my post in order to copy and paste it. You did that………… and yet you're still in the dark about this?
I don't know why I bother sometimes. You stupid cunt. ;)
I think the point Keith is making is that there are 17 tracks on the CD, but only 16 listed on the cover, i.e. one is not named somewhere.
As I said before, really enjoying the album, probably my fav track is Fade To Kelly, but the whole album is great.
thanks for translating for me Hooray. thats exactly it (I was guessing the same question from Doug).
*sigh* Press control+A and read my posts again. Silly, silly people.
aaah-ha!
