Unfortunately, I'm not free. That weekend is Gay Pride here in Indianapolis, and I'm "first lady" of the local Girth & Mirth (chubby men's) club. I'm not actually that into Snares anyway. I've heard good things about Otto von Schirach though. Anyway, I would just as soon hit the thrift stores as a gig….
even if you love snares, he's probably the most disappointing act you'll ever see….and a complete dick too.
yeah, i've heard that is the case, but i can't just miss an artist i've wanted to see for nearly a decade. plus it's relatively inexpensive, so what the fuck.
i'll be sure and not try and speak with him…nothing is worse than discovering an artist you like is a complete asshole (for example, bill leeb from Front Line Assembly is a douchebag, cevin key from skinny puppy isn't exactly cordial, and brad laner from medicine and electric company is the ultimate crybaby….), conversely, meeting an artist that you weren't previously a fan of and discovering how friendly they are really makes a difference.
what's even stranger is when you meet someone in real life that you loathed on the internet and discovering that they are lovely human beings…for example k-vint from Pink Reason is a terrific human being but a total forum jerk, and toecutter has a terrible e-mail personality whilst being a saint in person. billy fleagal (stuntrock) is another example of a bad e-mailer/nice person.
weirder still is when you meet an artist twice and get two different reactions…the first time i met al jourgenson he was like my best friend… we talked for hours. the second time i met him he didn't even remember me, which made me sad…
So, how was the show?
awful….
but not 'cause of the show itself - because i got mugged by a crackhead at the train station after the show. never going to that shitty venue again alone at night…
i'm fine, BTW. he just basically tackled me and picked my pocket. i was too wasted to really defend myself. i swear to god, i gotta stop drinking..i really don't remember much about the show except i'm sure i was acting retarded. i'm getting too old for this childish behavior, and somehow i feel as though i could have avoided the entire situation had i had my wits about me.
replacing everything in my wallet is a tremendous pain in the ass.
In case anybody gives a sh!t, here's what I was up to that weekend:

The group I'm in, Girth & Mirth Indianapolis, appears around 22:50 into the video. I'm the one carrying the Indiana state flag, and that's my car (a purple Chrysler PT Cruiser).
