The Sound of Memory.
Memory. Mechanical Memory. Malfunction. Bit Rot. Big Data. Lifelogging. Cloud Disorder. Digital Dementia. Data Compression. Memory Distortion, Recording Technology…
Those are just catchwords to get you going. The theme of the compilation is memory, decay and entropy, and was inspired by the mechanical failure of hard drives, the sounds they produce when they malfunction. The idea would be to use these sounds and any other related audio we can gather to build tracks or pieces. There are some samples on the web that can be used, but if one happens to be in the vicinity of a faulty memory "sound generator" and can record it and share the sound, that would be great.
I'm thinking more along the lines of abstract soundscapes or noisy vignettes. But if you just have a groovy memory, so be it. There's two ways to contribute to this compilation:
-You can make a track/some noise (no need to use the source sounds or any other faulty sample, that would be ideal, but feel free to do whatever the theme inspires in you).
and/or
-You can contribute with more source sounds to add to the "faulty memory library".
You can find rar files with some samples from contributors and from the web and elsewhere here (wav; mp3):

You can send your pieces to me or Solypsis (preferably in WAV format).

Send them pieces or sample files to ibn.batuta [at] gmail dot com
There's no deadline as of this moment, but seeing as this is seemingly closing down in 2015, I think it's kind of a fitting theme for a curtain call compilation.
This is just an idea, open to anyone willing to make it their own, so please comment, contribute, criticize, make a suggestion…
That would be all.
